Our Why: Thrive during change

A different kind
of wisdom.

We believe people, teams, and organizations can thrive during change: focused on vision, faithful to values, true to mission.

Change rarely unfolds as expected. Familiar answers may no longer serve us, and the way forward is not always clear. Yet even in uncertainty, wisdom can be found in the people of an organization, in their shared experience, and in what difficult circumstances bring to light.

How we work

Connection comes first.

People are more important than what they do.

Every engagement begins the same way. We listen.

We have noticed that people closest to a challenge often see what others miss. We bring our experience and curiosity to the conversation, listening for what matters, recognizing strengths that may have gone unnoticed, and exploring new possibilities together.

We have much to offer, and much to learn from the people we serve.

Our values

Four two-sided coins.

Hypocrisy alert! Over the years, we encouraged many organizations to distil their core values to five or fewer. Since paradox and contradiction seem to be part of our core business, we named four values expressed as two-sided coins.

Connection and Solitude

We recognize kinship, looking past the illusion we are not already one. We cultivate servant leadership, kindness, and belonging.

Creativity and Simplicity

We are serious about play, exercise disciplined openness, and appreciate when humour reveals truth in surprising ways.

Thinking and Silence

Our knowledge is tempered with curiosity and Beginner’s Mind. We honour expertise and mystery, perspective and not knowing, diligence and grace.

Action and Stillness

We hold work and contemplation together: optimizing change and loving what is. We strive to make new mistakes rather than repeat old ones.

Our people

Different perspectives.
Shared commitment.

Our people bring experience from many fields, including the arts, business, coaching, education, finance, healthcare, technology, and organizational leadership.

We value the different perspectives, experiences, and questions that each person brings. None of us sees the whole picture. Together, we can notice what might otherwise be missed, challenge one another’s assumptions, and discover possibilities that would be harder to find alone.

Pay It Forward

We stand on the shoulders of giants.

We are grateful to servant leaders who have guided us through our own seasons of change.

In their spirit, we strive to make our services more accessible by offering discounted rates to under-resourced organizations whenever possible. We especially hope to support organizations serving 2SLGBTQI+ people, people with developmental disabilities or mental health needs, migrant workers, refugees, and youth, as well as Indigenous-led organizations and those serving Indigenous communities.

If you are an individual facing financial barriers that have kept you from accessing coaching, mentoring, or learning opportunities, we would be happy to discuss options.
