A time to grow
Organizational Retreats
Where action and contemplation meet.
Sometimes we need to step away from our work to see it more clearly.

A retreat creates room to remember what matters: who we are beyond our responsibilities, who we are to one another, and what first brought us together. Away from familiar routines and demands, we may see our circumstances differently, rediscover something worth keeping, or recognize what needs to change.
We design and facilitate retreats for boards, leaders, and teams seeking perspective, stronger relationships, renewed purpose, and thoughtful ways forward.
Our approach
We begin by listening. What brings your people together? What matters most to them now? What has been crowded out by daily demands? What conversations or decisions deserve the gift of time and attention?
Some retreats focus on strategy, organizational direction, or consequential decisions. Others explore leadership, team relationships, culture, or the challenges of navigating change. Often these concerns are intertwined. We design each retreat around the people involved, their circumstances, and what they hope to accomplish.
Stepping away offers an opportunity to encounter one another beyond familiar spaces, roles, and routines. Honest conversation, shared experiences, laughter, a meal together, or a little adventure can reveal qualities and possibilities that daily work conceals. Sometimes the simplest pleasure of being together helps people remember what they appreciate in one another.
There is also the team itself. Beyond the experiences of individual members, every group has its own history, relationships, habits, and unspoken understandings. A retreat can help people notice what is happening among them right now: whose voices are heard, what brings them together, what keeps them apart, and what might be emerging. The group has an opportunity to remember who it is and consider who it is becoming.
We value silence beneath thinking, stillness within action, simplicity amid creativity, and solitude even in connection. These are not separate activities to be imposed. They are dimensions of experience easily overlooked. We may invite quiet reflection, conversation, movement, time outdoors, or playful exploration, drawing on what serves the people and purpose. Participation respects individual backgrounds, abilities, beliefs, and choices.
We hold reflection and action together without assuming that every retreat must end with an action plan. Sometimes people leave with decisions and commitments. Sometimes a difficult conversation has begun, a neglected perspective has been heard, or something important has become clearer. We help groups attend to what is happening now, discern what deserves attention next, and consider what they wish to carry into everyday life.
What this can strengthen
- A clearer sense of purpose, perspective, and what matters now.
- Deeper understanding, appreciation, and trust among colleagues.
- The capacity to recognize familiar patterns and work through differences.
- Space for reflection, creativity, connection, and renewal.
- Shared understanding and commitments that can guide what happens next.
What the work may involve
A retreat may centre on strategic discernment, organizational direction, leadership development, team relationships, culture, or preparing for a new season of work. These purposes often overlap.
We begin by exploring your circumstances and aspirations. From there, we design an appropriate combination of facilitated conversations, shared experiences, thoughtful material, reflection, and practical planning. We pay attention to the setting and pace, creating opportunities for both purposeful work and unexpected discovery.
Retreats may last a day, a weekend, or several days. We can also accompany groups before or afterwards, through preparation, coaching, further conversations, or support for putting their discoveries into practice.
People behind this work
Questions (6)
How is a retreat different from a workshop or planning session?
There is no rigid dividing line. Workshops and planning sessions can also take place away from the workplace and offer meaningful opportunities for reflection.
For us, a retreat is distinguished less by its location or format than by the attention it gives to people and their relationships, as well as the work before them. It may include focused learning, planning, and decisions, while also making room to notice what is happening among the group, explore questions that have gone unspoken, and enjoy being together.
Are your retreats religious or spiritual?
Our retreats for boards, leaders, and teams are not religious programmes. We welcome people of different faiths, spiritual traditions, and worldviews, including those who do not identify with any of them.
Questions of meaning, purpose, values, and belonging may arise naturally in a retreat. We welcome those conversations without assuming that everyone understands them in the same way.
We may draw on stories, insights, or practices from different wisdom traditions when they serve the group and its purpose. Quiet reflection, silence, and other contemplative opportunities are invitations, never requirements. We do not ask participants to adopt our beliefs or follow our particular paths.
Where do retreats take place?
Wherever the setting best serves the people and purpose. Often this means stepping away from the usual workplace, although a suitable setting need not be distant or elaborate.
We can help consider the location, accessibility, environment, activities, and practical arrangements.
Can you help us with a divided or struggling team?
Yes, although we would first want to understand the circumstances.
A retreat can create opportunities to listen, examine tensions, acknowledge different experiences, and begin conversations that have been avoided. It may help a team recognize its own patterns and explore new ways of working together.
Not every difficulty can or should be addressed through a retreat. Some situations require other forms of support, organizational action, or sustained attention. We help you consider what is appropriate and timely.
What happens after the retreat?
That depends on what emerges and what the group wishes to carry forward.
Some retreats lead to decisions, priorities, agreements, or practical commitments. Others open important questions or conversations that deserve further attention.
Where useful, we can offer follow-up facilitation, coaching, or other support to help people integrate what they have discovered into their everyday work.
How long does a retreat take, and what does it cost?
Retreats may range from a focused day to several days. The design, setting, preparation, and follow-up depend on the people involved and what they hope to accomplish.
After an initial conversation, we can propose an approach, timeline, and fee for consideration.
