Bill McCarvell

Bill McCarvell leads technology development for Different Wisdom, from initial concept through design, development, and implementation. He builds AI-assisted analysis tools, custom productivity solutions, and web applications that support decision intelligence in business, not-for-profit, and training environments. He listens closely to understand what an organization and its people want to achieve, then translates that understanding into technology that helps them get there.

Over the past 20 years, Bill and Andrew have collaborated on dozens of information technology projects. This began in 2006 with a 15,000-page website that allowed interest-holders and members of the public to examine all information considered during a community reorganization. As AI tools matured, they put them to work in support of the strategic plans Platinum Leadership facilitated for a wide range of organizations. For the past two years, Bill has focused on harnessing AI: learning and building with tools as they are released and managing their limits, risks, and downsides. The work draws on 30 years of craft, and he loves the pace of change. Bill and Andrew describe themselves as cautiously enthusiastic early adopters of technology.

Bill was part of Stanford University's agile team that built a web application to manage intellectual property and turn scientific progress into products. At home, his fondness for all things productive has reduced the workflow for baking six loaves of bread to 28 minutes, optimizing the growth and development of his three well-fed adult sons.
