Different Wisdom

Brian Fox

Strategy, sales, and growth

Brian Fox advises businesses on strategy, sales, and growth, and he came to the role by a circuitous route. He began as a multi-instrument musician and record producer, taught himself real-time computing while working in broadcast engineering, and became a software engineer for a company building test systems for the global telecom industry. His habit of asking "How are we going to make money with that product?" moved him into sales and marketing, where he reorganized the product line, the pricing strategy, and the marketing website.

In 2001, Brian joined Western Union to lead international business development for Canada. As Vice President, his team became the first Western Union division to bring a major bank into the network as a money sender, a move that earned him a half-joking charge of "the crime of innovating." The model rippled outward, and Western Union created new divisions in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia to replicate it. Over the next seven years, as Senior Vice President and General Manager, he built a high-performance Canadian team, expanded the company's relationships to include some of the largest companies in the country, and doubled annual revenues.

Since 2015, Brian has chaired the board of Cauridor, a remittance company and fintech startup serving West Africa, with sending services from Canada and technology partnerships in the United States. All that to say, Brian provides a different kind of wisdom.
